I have been laptop searching, and I found some for like $850 USD for ones with a 15.4" widescreen display, 512mb ram, 64mb onboard vid, and an XP-M 2500+...

Anyone owned an emachines? I personally think that their desktops are piles of crap... But Im lookin for a cheap new laptop (non celeron/duron)

Thanks!

actualy, eMachines are pretty decent machines, and they have good support

but, for a laptop, i think that system would be pretty good, but i would look into getting a Toshiba, they are the best.

their M6805/09/10/11 are the best bang for the buck right now (at around $1250 after rebates at retailers).

their customer support has beem improving a lot since their early days ...

i'd say .. go for it :) ...

I have an instructor at school who uses an eMachine. Its an AMD 64. He upped the RAM to around a Gig. Fast machine. They seem real sturdy too.
