I havent had any customers in the last 5-6 months complaining about norton causing problems but who knows. I do however have had many occusions customers complain about kaspersky not installing right or internet being blocked. But than again I view kaspersky as for the more advanced user. Eset on the other hand I havent once had an issue, xp, vista, 7 no issues what so ever. Anyone hear of Escan? It actually is looking really good but is it new? I mean I never heard of it until I was reading my reports and im not to keen on dishing there name out yet i mean look at AVG was top of the line 3 months later sucked kitties hair balls.

To bad there's not a an open source anti virus like openoffice.org is for office users.

Built to make better by honest people wanting a top notch free service.

The knowledge is definitely on this forum.

This, on the computer I built for my parents and a couple of clients. MSE has really good detection rate and a low memory usage. Definitely a recommend from me.

Symantec Endpoint Enterprise.
Why? It was free from school, its lightweight and doesn't hog resources, and it works.

Home computers I use Microsoft's Free Security Essentials.

Works we are on Mcafee EPO and AV 8.5. I can't stand EPO anymore so we are actively looking for a new AV.

Kaspersky, BitDefender, and ZoneAlarm Internet Suites for me. Whatever is "free" with the 1 rebate. I don't like the upgrade rebates.

Is Avira really having update issues? I've been recommending it to a slew of acquaintences - and already installed it on 3-4 buddies' PC's due to the praise it got on this very thread! ! Is this widespread and confirmed?

I personally still love my Kaspersky. Top notch IMO...

Bump - Is this really happening with Avira? I don't run it myself - and most of my buddies aren't savvy enough to know there is a problem with the updates. Thanks!

FWIW - I had my Cousin's PC in for a Video Card upgrade - his Avira Free AV seems to be updating just fine. Go figure! Must have been a false alarm from TollhouseFrank

I dont use antivirus they are all a scam.
I do reformat a lot however and before I do I download and install the latest and greatest and I always come up clean. My longest install was about 9 months and that one came up clean too.

How can you not know if you have a virus?

When I had a rootkit from hell, lots of AV programs found the other virus programs that it was putting in my system: AVG, AVAST, Malwarebytes, etc.

ONLY Kapersky found the rootkit, though.

(All free versions).

Since it re-programmed the access to that last sector in the HD, no program could get rid of the rootkit, however.
