Folder Security

Alright here is my problem. I am in college living in a dorm with a room mate etc. I was wondering if there was a way to password protect folders in my computer so I know that no one is accessing them while Im away because I have some fairly important files on this thing and I'd rather not have anyone tampering with them. I'm using windows 98 (Don't ask why x_x) any ideas?

you could use a logon so that when the comp boots or goes to sleep or comes back from a screensaver you must enter a password.

The best way to protect windows 98 is a BIOS password + screensaver password (that way they can't reboot it). After you pick a screensaver, like the blank one, you find the .scr file for it.. should be in your windows or system directory, called blank.scr. If you make a shortcut to that, and run it, it will force the screensaver to start.

Another option would be to use PGP to create an encrypted disk that you can save all your files to.. only your private key and password will be able to decrypt the files stored on the disk.. not a good idea for storing large amounts of information though. That requires the non-free version of PGP.
