special cable needed for sub?

i was wondering if u need a certain cable for yours subs to work, cuz mine dont seem to be working.
 
I've been using a standard video cable for my subwoofer. I dont think it matters honestly. I've tried using a 75 Ohm coaxial digital cable and several other RCA cables (patch cables mostly) and they all sounded the same to me. One of the nicer features of some of the subwoofer cables is they do have built in signal splitters so you can connect the left and right subwoofer input. I think provided the cable is shielded enough your gonna be good to go.
