Kt7a-raid Hits The Wall!!!

Not sure that it's the mobo but all the clues points to it. My question is; Has anyone hit 1.4GHz on this mobo? I have the latest BIOS that is suppose to let it go 1.4GHz & up but no luck yet.

1.418GHz 270FSB 10.5 X 135 = P.O.S.T.s, Win98SE no
1.4 GHz 280FSB 10 X 140 = P.O.S.T.s, Win98SE no
1.4 GHz 266FSB 10.5 X 133 = P.O.S.T.s, Win98SE locks up when the CPU cools(KT7 Unofficial FAQ)

Clues & Donations for a new mobo & your 2cents please.

Temps are kinda high & will be buying a few case fans 'cause the only one I have is the crappy one that came with the case. BUT I have done the Burn-In test in Sandra for a HUNDRED times & it never even locked up & same with Prime95 for 16Hrs. It's completely stable. I just read in the AMD CPUs that TweakFreak had similar probs but when he shifted to a 300FSB(150DDR) from 266FSB(133DDR) it got into windows & didn't lock up. It maybe an isolated case to say tyhe least but it"s worth a try.

alisport - hmm ram or temps huh. I found some fans,$1.00 each for some 120mm generic 2nd hand fans, & mabe try them out. Before you guys start laughing at me for those fans just remember that no store here sells a name brand fan of any size. You are pretty much stuck with the case fan that comes with all the crappy cases available here. The RAM I got in my system is APACER PC133 CL3 & that IS top of the line here.

Hey, no-one's gonna laugh at you for those fans - brand-name fans are pretty overrated IMO, I have some dirt cheap (about £3.00) 80mm fans that are great, nice and quiet but shift a fair bit of air for their size!

Did you try using WPCREDIT & WPCRSET to tame those idle temps?

I kept the original WW BIOS because if it's lower idle temps and my 1.4gig T-bird is at 1.6 and has been for over a week with no problems. See my sig for details.

I tried BIOS 3R a few weeks ago and I didn't like where it took my idle temps, even with the register 52 hack. I flashed back to wz110b, it's been the best BIOS to me so far.

PS... my idle temps are usually at or below mobo temp which averages 28 C.... this is with a 1 GHz AXIA-Y @ 1.33 GHz, 1.775 volts, with a SK6/YS Tech 40.1 CFM

still need to do some tests why my chip won't go any faster. it could be the bios or acpi or ram or a whole lot of things that I still need to find out. every benchmark that I use my rig passes except for the torture test of prime95,just the torture test. i can't find any probs in the set up so dunno what's stopping it from running properly. check out my new thread on AMD CPU's to view my latest test results.
