Well here's the situation and I only see a locker as a solution to be honest..
I have a demo for the new GTR game which is soon to be released, it's an excellent driving sports car simulation of the European FIA GT series.
In cockpit view I can get it to never go below 43 easily, but sometimes it goes above 85 which means when vsync is on it will jump from 43 to 85 in a flash which looks really bad. But vsync looks ace when it locks at 43 which I can do also by increasing FSAA ect so that it doesn't go above 85.
The thing is I can maybe set the full game up with 50+ other cars and so lower FPS, so that it hopefully always stays between 45 and 85.; But even then it can jump to 60 or 51 FPS. It's totally random and isn't a true lock but it looks when it is locked like true perfect graphics.
So a locker is really the only way of using vsync, though in some games I can use it successfully like UT2004.
I imagine it would take the devolopers to add a lock to the actual game but I thought maybe there was a program or a way to make a program that would lock FPS - I mean there has to be some programming involved to add the feature in some games in the first place but I am clueless totally!!
Would be great to have a program that I can start on startup and set 3d applications to never go above 43... it's those darn tearings that lately i've started to notice more on 85hz which is the max for this monitor. Maybe a monitor with 120 hz at 1024x768 would be better, but still nothing looks better than vsync when it's setup right
