Ran 3 different benchmarks, 3dmark01, 3dmark03 and aquamark. All these were run with the newest Omega 4.9's, Intel P4@ 2.75 with P4PE at 4x(that is all the mobo supports).

I am going to compare these to the marks in the same benchmark with same everything else with my ti 4600. Some interesting results here.

3dmark01:
Ti4600=13475
9600XT=12851

3dmark03:
Ti4600=1253
9600XT=3838

Aquamark3d:
Ti4600=30789
9600XT=29364

The only mark I saw improvement on was 3dmark03(a nice jump too).But what about the other two? I know the 9600's are supposed to be better than the 4600's. Again, these were all run with same machine, same drivers, same settings.

3dmark01 is really more cpu dependant and aquamark is system dependant as well, it wasnt a "big" upgrade, but you see the results of a dx9 card in 03 more then you do in anything else.

The only surprise to me is aquamark.It's supposed to bench dx8 and dx9.How can the TI4600 win that one???. Weird.
The other two were expected.

3Dmark03 grades more on ur video performance. Th other two, I don't know but seems u won't see any difference in real world apps. or games.

A ti4600 is a very powerful card. My 4200 whooped my dad's 9600 pro. When I bought a 9700 pro last week, there is an improvement in games, but it is not all that great as some would lead you to believe.

ya at 800x600 :p

Um a 9600 Pro runs far cry at 1024X768 at MAX settings nearly flawlessly, so an xt should as well.

You think they are close now, but run both tests again and have them both run 4xaa and max af.

If you OC that 9600xt you will see huge gains...

I score almost 15k in 01, 4600 in 03 and 36,300 in aquamark with mine.

yeah, thats another reason i ordered the 256mb version. even though the memory is about 1-2 fps slower on some benchmarks at stock speeds. It overclocks a hell of a lot better. though i probably wont be OC'ing this car for a while.. since its the first card i've bought since i got a geforce2 mx about 4 years ago....

This is the thread I should have replied to.

What do you use to overclock the 9600xt? I'm using winme, and I find stuff for xp or 2000. Ofcourse doom 3 is for those operating systems, but I'm having a ball playing it with winme.
