Question 5.1 Guide

I've been trying for some time to set up my PC to my amp and be able to listen in glorious 5.1

However I am not getting any sound at all out of any of the speakers.

I have the latest nvidia nforce drivers and the set up couldn't be simpler, you click on the wizard and listen to the sounds. No other changes are possible. I've connected the SPDIF out on the motherboard (A7N8X Deluxe) to my amp to the digital input channel.

Now, there is obviusly something I'm missing and my guess is it's a setting in either windows or the bios, but I can't find anything.

Is there a set by step guide on how to set up an external amp to a PC with soundstorm? Going through every single little detail?

I have the same motherboard. Did you set the speaker settings to 5.1 (Dolby Digital)? Perhaps unmute the SPDIF control as well?

All you'll need otherwise is a dobly decoding receiver or processor.

Yeah, I unmuted the SPDIF channel and turned the volume right up as well. But still nothing.

Does the sound get output to the SPDIF as well as the other speaker sockets on the motherboard or do you have to enable it somehow?

There is no sound at all when it does the tests for surround sound. I here the first test through my normal speakers whgich I have plugged in also, then nothing from the second test (which I think is the digital out test).

The meters are all at zero as well (I think - must check to be certain). But I'm not using optical, it's a coaxial cable.
