Athlon 64 or P4?

Well, my 3000+ just died on me a couple days ago and I am looking for a replacement processor/motherboard. Which would be the best choice, and why? I am looking at the 3400+ A64 (Clawhammer) and p4 3.4C. Thank you in advance .

Like it's been said over and over again, if your more of a gamer, get the AMD64, if not, get the P4.

Heh, search feature!

The AMD 64 will own in games. If you paired it with a DFI Nforce 3 and some good ram, you could even o/c it a fair bit, having a sweet CPU.

Just google, for some benchies.

Do your research on the ram on the processor, if you're into OCin' then make sure you get a good AMD with the right core to OC. The board look for Nforce 3 chipset, that is very good. A good Gforece 6800 would run games like nothing, like Doom 3. Just keep in mind price or if you've got money coming out your bung hole then shoot for the stars.

Well, I already have an x800pro and I wasn't quite sure on the ram (any suggestions?). Also, I have pretty much decided on the A64 3400+ Clawhammer. I'm not sure on the brand/model of motherboard, but I am definately going to get one with the nforce 3 chipset.

go for some of this stuff: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...146-890&DEPA=1. it's absolutely ridiculous and ocs like no one's business. if i had the money, i'd go with that. you totally need to go with the a64. such a sweet processor.
