CPU Duct - do they work?

they help a little but if you have good temps inside you case you will be disapointed by the results, they are designed for people that have very hot cases. they will always help a little bit

Duh....if you already have room temperature inside your case, how could you do better than that in an air system? A duct is meant to make it easy to get room temperature air to your HS or to exhaust heat. A duct makes this easy by reducing the need for multiple case fans thereby reducing noise significantly and channeling the air where you need it instead of where you don't.

In that image the "duct" has been cut very short, and serves only as a decorative grommet in front of the unmodified fan.

Available at Home Depot? Sure, but not in keeping with typical cases I think. It's basically a tube with a flange. Check out the ABS pipe fittings aisle, for a start.
