Hey, there.

Someone had posted that four WD Raptor drives on a Raid 0 array may not work properly due to the bus not being able to keep up with the drives.

My question is whether or not you can run four Raptor drives on one Raid 0 Array. Also, has anyone every tried that? :)

I think it sounds SPIFFY.

you can do RAID 0 with 4 drives if you want, as long as the controller supports it.

if the controller goes through the PCI Bus, then yes, it will definitely saturate the bus.

if the controller is native to the chipset, then it won't be bottlenecked by the PCI bus.

I don't know of any SATA RAID Controllers which are native to the chipset and can RAID 0 four hard drives though.

Thanks for the response. That makes sense.

I have an ASUS P5AD2 mobo with three raid controllers on it. Two of the raid controllers support up to 4 drives each.

Now I know what to ask for when Christmas comes :)
