Smile Upgrade or not to upgrade??

I'm currently looking into upgrading my system. I have a 3.0c 30 cap oc'd to 3.8ghz. The overall system performance is pretty good. The cpu has a strange history. When I bought it from Newegg, it was not stable at default speeds. However, I could set it to 3.75ghz without any problems. I made some further adjustments and was able to hit 3.8ghz stable. 3.9 will give me a bios checksum message. I'm thinking that either I'm cpu limited or ram limited.

Heat is not an issue. My cpu runs between 28-31c idle and between 36-40c load on air. Case temps are around 26c. Do you all think that it is better to wait until prices comes down or do something different like buy a Mach 1 or Mach 2 GT?

Instability at default speeds, but not while overclocked, is virtually -always- a BIOS issue of some sort, usually with RAM.

I did run memtest on the ram and it turned up nothing, but that doesn't mean the ram is any good. The ram does carry a lifetime warranty. I was thinking of either OCZ or Geil ultra x series. What ram would you recommend?
