hey all im looking for a great gaming computer to run wrld of warcraft and rps games VERY WELL. my budget is around 1,000 and ill be upgrading in december.

1)Processor- (athlon 64 3000 and up?)

2)Video Card- (Nvidia?)

)Ram- (1 gb)

thanks for any help :)

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 939 90nm $255 = (monarchcomputer.com)

Video Card: BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC = $406 (computerbrain.com)

RAM: Corsair Platinum PC4000 1gb (2X512M) = $264 (excaliberpc.com

Total: $925

That'll get you a screaming fast gaming "upgrade" rig for all the games your wanting to play. Thats just my 2 cents.

thats why i asked what hes useing right now.

if hes already got a a64 motherboard.. why change.. if hes got intel..why thats on the other side of the train tracks

heads up, dell is having 30% off on dimesion these are worth it, get'm home and starts upgrading them :)

A DELL.. ARE U CRAZY??? THEY CANT OVERCLOCK.. WHATS THE USE OF THAT?

only thing i dell is good for is servers were they are needed for stableblity. not a home computer. trust me i am useing a dell right now.

now till shadowblade1 posts then i dont relly want to see anymore ussless posts. ...its sickins me

sorry i cant get on aim atm im at school and alot of msgers and email sites are blocked (but millions of porn sites are not? stupid...) so ill be on aim...4 hours and 10 minutes after this post. i dont want to look for a mobo atm.. sice they change all the time. id like to get a pcie mobo and a 939 a64 that sound good? also any opinions on ati vs nvidia (lol) i know they are so similar and so many people are sure that their brand is so much better than the other (bs) any good non-biased reviews out there? ill prolly get a high-end card ($300-400) but my budget is about 1.2k for WHOLE comp not 3 components. i can prolly spend about 800 mayb more(im not rich) on cpu/gpu/mobo/ram. id liek this sytem to last untill i go to college which will be about 3 years (sophmore) this is my list of items and bout how much i think they will cost :)

mobo- i dunno 150

cpu- a64 best for price 200

gpu- nvidia/ati highest 400

hdd- 74gb raptor 185

case- suggestions? needs good airflow

ram- 1gb ? pc3200 or higher? maybe pc4000? 200

other stuff- keyboard/mouse/mousepad/fans/fan controller/cables/ect 300

thats 1.5k ;/

see you in.. 3 hours and 45min from this post time.

i would go with standard 7200 sata because the raptors are loud as hell
will save you some bucks

other stuff- keyboard/mouse/mousepad/fans/fan controller/cables/ect 300
hell do you mean 300 bucks is not overpriced for this section?

heres my suggestion

nf3-250 s754 value board - 80$
a64 2800+ retail - 140$ (will oc to at least 2.4ghz - nobrainer)
Sata 150 200GB 8mb cache any brand (i would take WD or Seagate) - 110$
Case Chieftech or similar - 70$
PSU some generic silent 550w - 50$
Stay with your ddr ram first, even if 266, upgrade later if you want to. S754 does'nt perform better with tighter mem settings. Its a myth. If you don't have any DDR266 or better, buy pc3200-3500 2x512
I suppose you alread own a mouse keyboard monitor and stuff, staywith these

Last but NOT least:
With the money saved buy an geforce6800 ultra or x800pe :santa2:

CPU & MOBO: Wait for AMD to release more s939 cpu's which in turn will increase the number of s939 motherboards. s754 is faster than AXP/P4 but to upgrade now will mean you are buying an already obsolete system. My SUGGESTION would be a s939 3000+ with a nice DFI s939 (yet-to-be-released mobo but any NF3 s939 will do).

RAM: Look for ram with Micron or TCCD Chips: Geil Ultra-X PC 3200, G. Skill TCCD, Crucial Ballistix, OCZ EB/Gold Rev. 3/EL Rev. 2, Mushkin Black Level II v2, PQI Turbo, Adata Viesta PC6000(? Correct me if am wrong here on the new Adata brand name).

HDD: The raptor isn't worth the money. Why pay 200 for 2ms increase? Instead, look at 2x120 Maxtor SATA HDs or a Seagate SATA II HD with Native Command Queuing.

Case: Lian Li PC 65/65B. Stylish, yet simple. An alternative would be a Kingwin lookalike, but the prices will be similar.

Video Card: If you want something under $400 go for a 6800GT for the best price to performance ratio. Also most are easily overclockable to Ultra speeds. If you dont mind spending a tad more you might try for an x800 Pro VIVO in the hopes of softmodding to an XT PE, but by NO MEANS is it a guaruntee that this will work.

Svc.com and Xoxide.com both have great fans that are led and non-led for much less than $15 each.

$50 for a mousepad is quite expensive. An everglide should run you about $10-15 and a func1030 should be no more than $25-30 including shipping.

Literally there is no reason whatsoever for you to spend $250 for these little peripherals. I see nothing wrong with the MX 1000 but some smart shopping will find you good products with much lower prices.

I would say for a cpu to try and get a 90nm socket 939 3000+ They're cheap ($190 right now on newegg) and great overclockers

Yea I wouldn't spend that much on keyboards and stuff either. Directron has used keyboards for cheap. Grab a few in case you spill your whiskey, rum&coke, or beer into the keyboard. That mixed with ashes for your smokes really do a number on a keyboard. I don't use a mouspad at all. They get in they way and I can frag with the best of them. Also, Directron has decent fan prices and controller prices. I like the Enermax fans, but it's hard to beat SVC's brand of fans and their round cables in terms of prices. Directron also sells used floppy drives and that'll save you a few bucks. SVC.com has a really cool case, that has has a 120mm front fan where the intake looks like a turboprop jet engine. Too bad it doesn't have a 120mm on the back. If you get a case with a 120mm front and rear openings, a couple enermax 120mm with the built in fan speed adjuster, the Theramalright hs that holds a 90(or120m) fan and use enermax there too, you won't need a fan control since all the fans have a built in one, plus it will be quite as well as good with the air flow. I had an enermax fan on the front of my case turned on high but I had to turn it down because my cat got sucked right up against the case and couldn't get free.
