i bought a 9700 pro about a month ago, and won a aiw9600 today at an amd tech tour, which would be better in my system? in my sig, the 9700 is oc'ed

Are you serious?

A google search of the two cards could have answered that. The 9700PRO is slightly slower than the 9800PRO, so the answer is a no brainer (9700>9600 8x1>4x1).

I also suggest you keep the 9700pro. You could sell the AIW9600 for quite a bit of money and spend some on a tv tuner card. You'd still have some left over to upgrade your system even further

what do you mean 9700>9600 8x1>4x1 both are 8x agp cards... yeah they are about the same p[rice

I think he means that:

9700 > 9600 - The 9700 is better than the 9600

8x1 > 4x1 - The 8pipes on the 9700 are better than the 4pipes on the 9600

I would say keep the 9700 and sell the 9600. The 9700 is a much better card.

The 9700 is about 2x faster per mhz, so a 9700 at 250/500 would take a 9600 at 500/1000 to match. I think in reality its less than 2x per clock, but its still a lot faster.

9700 = 256bit mem / 8 pipe core
9600 = 128bit mem / 4 pipe core

they only way i'd use the 9600 is if you wanted to use it to capture stuff or run the card to your tv.... otherwise stick with the 9700pro.
