ASUS SmartDoctor/SmartCooling: compatible with the "foreign" cooler fans or not?

Hello here,

I recently bought a new PC with ASUS V9999/TD (nVidia 6800) card.
It is quite good and the "SmartCooling" feature (ASUS' SmartDoctor tool) is very useful but the cooling fan is still noisy.

I am curiuos if the Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 is compatible with this card, especially with the SmartCooling feature which allows to control the fan speed dinamically.
Even if the NV Silencer cooler will quite - I would prefer to have some additional control over it, i.e. slow it down if the GPU temp is less than 55-60°C.

So will be ASUS card able to control a "foreign" cooler fan or not?

Thanks,
