The secret appearently is, when you first plug the card into your machine, it boots up at 475MHz VPU and 1.00GHz Memory. After installing Abit's uGuru FATALITY software, the system speeds up to the real stock speeds of the VPU and Ram being 500MHz Core and 1.20GHz (1.6ns) Memory.

With a little overclocking, I can see this thing running 550MHz Core 1.25GHz Memory with little effort. For $219US, its gonna be a hard card for me to choose between that or the Gainward Goldensample 1.6ns 6600GT!.

This card is seriiously worth checking out if your out there looking for a good upgrade but dont wanna spend too much cash.

Also look at the cooling this graphics card uses, which is solid copper heatsinks on both the VPU and Ram.

EDIT:

Here is the card I'm comparing it with. Its gonna be a tough decision from the looks of it. The Gainward 6600GT comes with Hand picked 6600GT GPUs that run stock 540MHz garanteed and 1.6ns memory as well that does 1.2GHz at stock after drivers are installed.

These new cards are going to make me sell my 9800pro and get a 6600gt or a x700XT, I not sure cause I may want to go sli with another 6600gt or I could just get the x700XT and be happy for the next year. How much do you think I would be able to get for my 9800pro with everything on it, I'm thinking of selling it to a friend.

Wow that looks like a nice midrange card.... I'm looking forward to a review.... maybe I'll even get one if delivers on performance..... I wonder what's the likelihood they'll come out with an agp card?

there is no comparison, you can compare an x700xt vs. a 6600gt but not that x700xt which is 256mb......that would beat that 6600gt anyday cause of the 128mb.

you could get 175 from your friend on that 9800p and that would be fair compared to buying new, around the forums here 140 to 160 I'd guess

Also I wouldn't buy a 6600GT then another for SLI later...by then it would be cheaper to sell the 6600 and get a new card. The reason is from what I've seen two 6600GT's are performing same as the 6800GT basicly.

SLI is cool, but I really don't see it as a budget/good deal solution unless they up the performance of the SLI between 2 mid-range and 1 higher end card. SLI seems to be for the people who want best of cards out now, then add another later...which still might not be ecominical if they release a new new gen or just much faster card.

Hmmm... are the 70$ upgrades worth it from 9800xt/256mb to X700XTPE?
I could sell my 9800 r360 for $~150 would it be worth the upgrade?

I can easily reach x700 speeds with my card overclocked. But ofcource I could get more out of the x700.

Hmmm,.,....

Not gonna be that much faster really.

You'd be better of trying to find a cheap x800Pro, or 6800GT or 6800NU.

hey i looked for that gainward 6600gt golden sample to check out the pricing and can only find it on sale in the uk......are they not available here in the states?

EDIT: also, are they x700xts gonna be released in agp as the 6600s will in November? if so, when?

x7000xt's wont be released till about Q1 of 2005
ati's "answer" to the 6600gt is lowering the price of its 9800 pro's

Wow I'm surprised that the X7000Xt's will be released at all :D They must be great cards.

Anyway I saw this yesterday online and the 6600gt agp will be here soon while ati won't be releasing and agp x700, from what I saw ATi will lower the srp on the 9800pro instead.
