overclocking damage???

i have a question for any one that has an answer i have a celeron 700 currentley not overclocked (i know its old) and i was thinking does overclocking cause permanint damage (any thing that canot be reversed) not including not enough cooling like decreaseg life or dieing

I know that is a 3 page thread, but I would scim through it. It is for AMD's but the information in there can apply to any CPU.

I might add that some older Celeron's have temperature ratings not as high as many modern CPU's. I would not let the diode go over 65°C or the socket over 50°C when overclocking to maintain the longevity of that CPU.

I think it should be ok as long as you keep the temperatures under what I just said, and if you do not raise the Vcore too far from stock you should be fine.
 
of course you can damage it if you don't do it right. go slow is the suggestion and watch the temperature. thats what kills most CPU's.
