6800GT linux headache

I tried to install mandrake 10.1 with my 6800GT, it detects it during install as a 6800 GT, but when i do the screen test it fails, if i try and change the video to another card it still doesnt work, if i continue with the install i cant load X i only have console based linux.

My question is, does anyone know of a linux distro that will support the 6800GT during install?

p.s. the reason i need this is i need to benchmark doom 3 in linux for a school project.
