Are there any good techniques or programs that can be used to resize JPEG images without losing quality? Whenever I resize something like a 2000x1000pixel image to 500x250, it seems like the image loses a lot of its quality. Are there any programs or techniques that can prevent this loss of quality? Thanks.

Photoshop is amazing (and available through free, but not-quite-moral means ;)) for those who want something good but free, the GIMP is good stuff.

Illustrator is quite powerful for creating vector graphics but is not intended as a raster graphics editor. Photoshop takes that role and when properly used or unless intended, will not distort images.

Today's helpful hint: When dragging to resize an object in any program, hold down the shift button to maintain the aspect ratio.

By the way, jcw122, YOU FORGOT YOUR YO!)

Beat me to it.

Pretty much what hafa said, not saying that illustrator won’t get the job done, however the mathematics only applies when editing vector art.
