Anyone have Morrowind going on nforce2 gf4 onboard graphics? Performance? Need advice

So I'm building a wicked cheap system for my fiance's brother/family christmas present. The kid went out and bought morrowind and tried to play it on his K6-II 450 with 128mb of ram and onboard graphics. Yeah, so that didn't work.

I'm trying to slap the system together on the cheap because I don't have that much money either, but I still want to leave some upgrade room and get morrowind running alright. I've got 2x256 crucial pc2700 for him. Gonna snag a cheap hard drive, and I have my old faithful xp1800+ dlt3c that I'm going to modestly overclock in the system.

Which leaves me with the motherboard/ram. I'm going to upgrade my card probably in a few months or so and I can donate my old ti4200 to him for his birthday or something...but I he'll need a video card in the mean time. I've been thinking about snagging one of the IGP nforce boards (probably the biostar) and just using the onboard gf4 mx graphics. Yeah, I know they're only dx7 and he'll have no pretty water for awhile...but will it run the game at 1024x768 (menus blow are hard to read under that) acceptably? I had a geforce2 mx400 in a similar setup to this, and it was a bit choppy but playable at 8x6.

Morrowind is an inefficient hog, even my current system's ti4600 doesn't run it as fast as I like...but I'd just like him to be able to handle this game reasonably well.

Anyone have good experience with this?

Check the box of the game Marrowwind. It should indicated the min spec of the system to run the game.

Yeah, well...I've never put much stock in minimum specs. My gf2 mx400 was within the min specs...it did run, but it ran like butt.

well let's put it this way, i ran on it with my fx5200 and then I ran it will my 6800gt and I never noticed much difference in the way of graphics other than the fact that the game itself ran faster.

You mean that there is no difference in image quality between these 2 cards, right?
