Just get a 9600 pro or something similar to that. You could even try getting a 5900 from the refurb section (although im agains video card refurbs >.<)

Total without the video card is $242, so you could spend up to $160 bucks on a video card.

I would like to settle for 512 ram, but really 1 gig is needed. I know I said budget, but I can't skimp on the ram. I will get the corsair value select you mentioned. It is a more reliable brand and the price increase isn't too much.

Unless someone can point out a better nvidia card for the price I am getting a sapphire radeon 9600/w 256megs no matter what. I don't know if I trust refurbs cause I have no experience with them.

So I need a good mobo/processor setup that supports dual channel ram and preferably onboard lan and sound. And the processor needs to be close to or equivalent to a pentium 4 2.4. Ok, does that narrow it down at all for you guys? Thanks, for the suggestions so far. It's looking good.

Edit: I forgot to mention, the mobo needs to have about five or more USB ports. And probably at least four PCI slots.

Edit2: I don't plan on doing heavy OC, just anything I can get away with using stock.
