Is the max3 worth the extra money?

Im looking to get a new board bacause my lanparty has been craping out on me and i think its holding back my oc. I was planning on buying a max3 but the price is kinda alot and max2's are going pretty cheap on ebay. So is there really a big difference between them? Im going to be running my 3.2e so i was planning on doing the capmod to give it a little more power. Does anyone have a link to one for a max2 or can help me set one up? Thanks for reading this.

The Max3 is a good board full of gizmos, but the Vcore powerplant is 25% less than the IC7-G fpr example. If you want to OC a Prescott you are better off with Max2 or IC7-G

Isn't the IC7-G and the Max II the same thing? I got my IC7-G and it had a MaxII sticker stuck on it..... I think it's just a marketing scam to replace to MaxIII.

Did they change the board at all when they switched to the MaxII advance?

Oh yeah, forgot to put my opinion in...... I love the IC7-G, my only complaint is the vdimm selection and you can do a vdimm mod to fix that. It's a 100% better than my MSI board, the dual channel actually functions correctly and it overclocks just as well.

Relatively low price for an excellent overclocking board as well. Good choice

You are right. IC7-G=MAX2. IMHO the MAX3 was pulled because of the problem I described above; icompatibility with high Prescott OC's

I own both, and have had better luck with the IC7-G (which is a max-2). The Max 3 is great, and is a very worthy board, but unless you need the extra sata ports, and really want otes, i say go with a max 2. Just my personal opinion, they both have worked very well for me with pressy's.

i had an ic7 that i did hipros 5in1 mods to. (agp/nb/vdimm/ vtt/ extra capacitor in line with cpu) and it ran like a bat outta H%ll. im not sure how hi the nb and vagp voltage can be raised with the max3, but theres nothing like hitting ur nb with 1.9 volts..
