omega drivers

Im using normal catalyst drivers right now, I don't notice any problems... but will those third party omega drivers improve performance?

I don't notice anything between using Catalyst 4.12beta and the Omega 4.10. I'm waiting for the next release for the Omegas, I'm hoping those will be wicked.

I like the omega drivers I havent used the cats in a while, there is probably a small performence increase in the drivers but nothing like making your 9600 performe like a x800

Many people swear by the Omega's as if they were religion, including myself. Typically, you will find that the Catalyst's tend to offer perhaps a 1% performance margin over the Omega's. However, Omegadrive compiles his drivers for the maximum performance without reduction in image quality. Therefore, you will often times find that the Omega's tend to look a bit nicer. Furthermore, Omega drivers also tend to incorporate game fixes faster than ATI's own drivers. Additionally, newer Omega's have allowed us users of third-party drivers to enjoy the benefits of Catalyst AI without the annoyance of the very buggy Catalyst Control Center.

I'm with deception on this one.
Omega drivers were certainly more stable for me. I could not run the Catalyst control center. It kept spitting out load-up errors. The CCC is the worst piece of video card software I've ever come across. I didn't notice any change in image quality with the Omega's. The reason I switched was stability.

A minor advantage with omega's is that you don't have to uninstall old drivers when loading new ones like you do with Catalyst.

You have a real advantage if you own a softmoddable 9500.
The omega driver offers you the option of installing either the standard driver or a custom hacked driver to push your 9500 to 9700 speeds. This driver also includes the control panel upgrade unlike prior catalyst drivers which required you to load the driver and pesky error filled ATi control panel separately.

I'd say go Omega!

haha, i have a softmodded 9500

and yes, i swear by the Omega's as well, for all the reasons listed above.
and for me, they're faster than softmodded-patched cats too

even though i'm using the 4.12 betas (yes, with a softmod) right now ironically :P (i'm too lazy to swap back to the last omegas, so i'm just going to wait until the new ones, which i'm sure will rock)
