Would a switch help my network?

I share a dsl line with 3 other users in the house. The dsl modem is upstairs and we networked the house so it could be downstairs. We use a Linksys 4 port Router upstairs, downstairs we have a linksys 5 port hub, if i had a switch would that help my internet and lan. Would it make it faster? if so what would be a good switch?

It wouldn't help your internet connection because I'll just assume your dsl is 1.5down. A hub runs at 10mb so you're fine.

As far as transfers within your lan it would definitely help, if you're transferring large amounts of data it will help.

Switch vs Hub: A switch prevents collisions on the network; a hub doesn't. A switch would help your network if it was larger, but with only a handful of machines it's not going to help a whole lot. If you do a lot of gaming on the network, it might help ping times, but the improvement would be minute.
