Somebody has probably asked this before (I couldn't find any posts though) But as the socket 940 FX chips are based upon the exact same core as their opteron brothers is it possible to run them in SMP boards? If not by default can u pin mod them?

Also are there any known voltage pin mods for socket 939?

FX CPUs are for 1 way operation only. The socket 940 variety need registered RAM. I am not aware of any way they can be modified to work in SMP - you need Opteron 2xx CPUs for SMP.

I was thinking along the lines that maybe all the sledgehammer cores were the same with maybe the extra hypertransport lines disabled after the die is manufactured (like the athlon MP/XP).
