I bought this cpu MB combination for a computer Im building for my son. When I change the FSB past 133 and boot it reverts to optimal conditions in the bios XP1500. I put my XP2500 Barton in that MB and it works at FSB 191 maby higher I didnt try.
So I assume that the CPU is locked. Can I unlock it? This is the first CPU i have had that I cant change the FSB a little.

thanks

What is the stepping and week code on the CPU. At least the FSB should overclock I would think.

Welcome to the forums btw :)

Thank you.

I found that it was OC'ng but when reboot it still reports XP2700, but Sandra shows XP2700 and a PR of 3400 which is better than I can get with my Barton which shows at 3200+ and a PR of 3131. His has 256mb ram and I have 512mb. I also have a Radeon 9800 and his has a Radeon 9600 Pro. I already know the 9800 gets about 400 points higher with 3Dmark 03 than the 9600 Pro.

The strange thing is the Barton XP2500 changes the read out in the bios boot screen to what ever the effective speed is, but the 2700 wont. Also the 2700 has a 256kb cash and the 2500 has a 512k cash. The same thing in either MB.

How can I find the steeping and week code without looking on the CPU?

Thanks
