8kda3j - blue screen of death help

This is a noob question. First here are my stats:

CPU: AMD Sempron 3100+
Hard Drive: Samsung 160GB SATA
Video Card: ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
Memory: PNY 512MB DDR3200 (just 1 stick)
OS: Windows XP SP2
and of course the Epox 8KDA3J with the most recent BIOS update 10/22 on their website.

This is a new system. After I installed SP2 and the nForce drivers (except for the nForce IDE drivers), verytime I try to shut down or restart my machine it gives me the blue screen of death. And sometimes when I start Windows after the splash screen it gives me the blue screen of death followed by an automatic restart. Under the Power BIOS options I have left everything as default and the AMD Cool N' Quiet setting is set to "Disable". Although I'm not sure if this would matter.

Is anyone else experiencing this error? It seems like a memory timing issue? And I have read there are under voltage issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*NOTE* I have also tried a Kingston 512MB DDR3200 (1 stick) with the same results. The reason I say 1 stick is because on their technical support website it says that there might be issues when using Cool N' Quiet and two sticks. Please help.

when i first recieved mine it had undervolting issues, but i would get a BSOD right at windows start up always. I'm not sure if it's the same problem, but you can check the voltages when you boot up, hit Pause / Break key to freeze the screen to watch the voltages. if it's low, like 1.4 try updating the BIOS to 5/14 which solved the issue for me. I don't think the ram is the problem, but to make sure try setting the ram speed to 166 in the bios.
