Someone I work with was trying to convince me that Intel doesn't post "true" frequencies with their chips. They were saying that the posted speed was what the chip was supposed to be able to do and not what it actually did. Is this true? I shouldn't think so.
The speed posted by Intel is the speed the chip is specified to run at. However, Intel CPUs will throttle back with temperature increases. They will run at their rated speed unless they overheat. When they overheat, they slow down.
