Car door molding is great stuff.

I can't recall who recommended this stuff, but I have to say thanks man.

Let me just list the advantages:
1. It's very, very cheap. 54" for $2.99 at AutoZone.
2. It comes in multiple colors and styles. Stick-on or clamp-on, matte black or metal.
3. It's very flexible, rubber molding more than the rubber and metal kind.
4. It looks GOOD.
5. It cuts noise.

For a test of the stuff, I applied it to the two 80mm holes in the back of my case. I'd sliced out the stamped grilles but they had rough edges. Put the molding around it, and it looked a lot better. It's kind of hard to bend the stuff for as tight a curve as is needed for an 80mm fan, but be patient and it'll work. Next up is the 120mm blowhole on top of the case. I think it'll work even better since it's a more gentle curve. Also, with my two 80's in place against the back panel (exhaust only - intake would make the fan blades hit the molding unless I put spacers on the bolts), they're very, very quiet. The molding helps keep fan vibrations from being transferred to the case metal.

I love this stuff and I highly recommend you try it too.

I don't have a digital camera. And I just put a new roll in my normal one, so it'd probably be weeks before I had a pic for you.

Also, I can't find a part number on Autozone's website. But if you go to just about any auto parts store and ask for car door molding, they can probably point you in the right direction.

I LOVE this molding! Like Crazy said, it's cheap, it helps with noise, it looks DAMN good, and it works on any sheet of any material, so long as it's less than 1/8" thick! It even has it's own adhesive to hold it on!

i bought some of that stuff today and its really messy, but if you cut it in half , it looks better.I guess i got the wrong kind, its the double sided sticky. Also where do they just sell just the strips no sticky stuff.That would make it look alot better, and cleaner. Just place the strips over the sticky stuff. Im sure yall have tried.

I'm a little confused. What does the cross section of the stuff look like? Mine looks like a letter C, where the opening fits over the sheetmetal and the adhesive is inside. Very clean.

Blah. Not sure if I found the right stuff or not. Can't seem to find the pic on the site I saw but what I saw didn't look like what they had at Autozone. What they had at Autozone didn't look like a C. It was door trim part #T4002 or something like that. That was actually for the 7/16 trim not the 1/8 trim. Was called something like Trimline and was made by 3M. Had the adhesive strip and all. Just didn't look like it had a groove in it that you could put the sheet metal into. Looked more like you just layed it on top of what you were trying to protect. Didn't actually buy it since I wanted to come back and check on here first. Btw Autozone's website SUCKS for searching for things. Actually it might be easier to navigate if I had a clue what I was looking for.

Trust me - you DON'T want the stick-on variety. The "C" cross section is for the press-on variety. Mine was made by Avery.

Woot I found it. Or something like it. Went back to a different Autozone and looked more carefully. Had it right next to the other stuff I saw and in an almost identical box so it was hard to tell. I just saw the wrong stuff originally and gave up. These directions will apply to only Autozone:
Walk into Autozone.
Go left down first aisle(not the half aisle that has all the car wash stuff) with all the windshield wiper blades and floormats and stuff. Look for a long skinny box that looks like it might actually be wiper blades. Manufacturer is Trimbrite and the name of it is Door Edge Molding. Becareful not to grab the stuff that says STICK ON Door Edge Molding. Part number for the chrome stuff I got was T-3805 Chrome.

Now to just get this stuff on. Just know I'm gonna end up cutting a it to short or something.
