da heat seem a bit high 4 p4? jst looking in bios at start...it's at 52c already..
opened case...full fan spd at 35xx... i'm sure da silk sit good..i can feel the heat when i touch it..any reason y? no mod of anything nor ocing

52C is not alarming for prescotts also remember Bios can initially report a tad high temps. give it a minute or two to settle... Reapply some artic silver5 and see if it helps. Check temps after 2-3 min in windows, use motherboard monitor http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7309,00.asp and or Asus Probe.

I had a 2.4a C0 it did run a bit hot but i had it @3.6gig (aircooled) load temps 58, idle 40ish. As long as you'r running below 59C preferably below 55C during max/stress load i say its ok.

I've noted that room temps effect case temps and cpu temps alot specially the prescotts since the need for heat dissipation is much higher then with northwoods so good case ventalation is important as well as the ambient room temps. my room is useally at 23c sometimes higher sometimes lower but average about 23 that gives my current rig , see sig, maxload temps (dual prime95) 55C

thanks for the quick reply tho... i checked on the windows.. it's only 45 - 47. which is ok now i guess..

I would worry about CPU temps under about 55C, unless your system is unstable or you are having other issues.

As a rule of thumb, I would say under 50C is best, so perhaps some better cooling may be useful. Especially if you want to overclock your CPU.
