cannot get server info to connect to online games

well, since a little while ago my computer will not let me acces server information or get updates. I can browse pages fine d/l fine and in one game I can acces server info and join games, this isn't a firewall issue because I disabled it so I'm wondering what the hell is going on. IT's a pain system restoring over and over again.

More information might help. What version of Windows are you running? What programs are you having problems with network communications?

If you are running Windows XP, is it legitimate? I don't want to know if it is not, but I do know that Microsoft will disable updates for computers that it detects are not.
