Dead psu?

Dead psu?


i put the power cord in my power supply (in my signature) by itself, no motherboard or anything else, maybe the case fan... anyways i put it in and hit the button on the power supply, nothing happens? i click it off then back on, nothing happens?

The button on the back of the PSU is more an emergency switch. For the PSU to power on the motherboard sends it a signal via the power cable and it will turn on.

Don't worry - once you have a motherboard and CPU and RAM and graphics card in, hook up the front switch, set the switch on the PSU to on, and then turn the PC on .

you can power the psu on by shorting the green wire to any other black wire in the big atx connector. It shouldnt turn on otherwise.
