black R-3400 Tygon tubing

I just saw someone on another forum using this tubing. It looks good.. It's specificantions are very close to that of the R-3603 that everyone uses (heat range and bend radius). It is just slightly more stiff than R-3603. Check it out:

How are you gonna see if all the air bubbles are out?

haha good point. If it was extremely cheap then it would be good for the lines going from the external box etc. I definitely wouldnt use it for an entire system.

if i was setting up a system now, i would love to use it. i like the way it looks. i can tell all my air is out by the sound, and by my temps. in fact, i wouldnt mind if there were some bubbles in my loop since that tubing is so kick ass

That is by far the coolest, most amazing looking tubing that I have ever seen in my entire life.

I would love to use tubing like that. But you would have to sacrifice glowing water, as it's opaque by the look of it. Still, if ever I have to re-plumb both my watercooling loops at the same time, I'll definetely be using this stuff .

Where exactly can it be bought? I'm having trouble finding it on McMaster, if they even stock it. There's also the issue of durability, is it the same quality of tubing as the 'normal' Tygon? I ask because typically when they use a different color like that, it implies a different intended purpose for the tubing. Some tubing isn't fit for use in a watercooling setup, despite a good flex radius and heat tolerence.

Do you have a link to a detailed spec sheet?

Totally, I can easily tell when a bubble is still in one of my circuits by the noise the pump makes when it passes an air bubble. And besides, you can always still use clear tubing for your T-Line, in order to keep tabs on T-Line levels.

Good find

I found a spec sheet for this tubing: http://www.portplastics.com/download...ng/Tubing7.pdf

I still cannot find anywhere that sells ~10 feet or less of it to non-commercial customers in a 1/2" ID, 1/16" wall size. McMaster doesn't seem to have it, which is a shock.

I really want to get some of this; planning on using it with my next watercooling circuit .

thegreek; who was it whom you saw using this stuff on another forums? I'd guess that he/she knows where to get some

EDIT: I found it, page 84 on McMaster. They do not have it with a 1/16" wall, only with a 1/8" wall. It costs $3.80 per foot.

I'm going to get five feet for my next water circuit.

There are types of algae that don't need light.

Wow that stuff looks pretty bad ass . It would also go pretty well with my new planned color scheme of red and black. I hope someone on here can find it for sale.

Just found this for all you yanks - not available in the UK by the looks, it looks pretty pricey, but at least you can buy by the foot.

Hope this helps,

My Black Tygon arrived this morning (I got five feet with a 1/2" ID, and a 1/8" wall). McMaster is crazy fast, I ordered the tubing late last night.

This stuff is really nice; it has an incredible flex radius, easily beating out my thick walled Clearflex60 by a large margin, just like its clear Tygon-cousin.

It is really stiff however, kinda hard to get around barbs. A little time with a heat-gun loosened it up nicely though. The stuff also looks even nicer in real life, then it does in the above picture.

The stuff is holding up fine with Antifreeze and distilled water, I don't forsee any problems using it in a cooling circuit.

Anyhow, having guinea-pigged myself, I can say that this is some really mint tubing, worth checking out if you want the black color .

Hrmm, what would look slick would be using some UV reactive paint to draw designs down the tubing.......

hrmm......

damnit.... everytime I get on this forum I end up spending more money...

Personally I would leave a small out of the way & unseen section of my loop with the clear, that way I would be able to see if the coolant is any way going bad.

But still, call me crazy but I still use the stuff from Home Depot. BTW some of the stores have the vinyl in black as well.

I don't think that tubing you linked is the same Tygon formulation that everyone else is looking at. Somebody just got some from McMaster for under $4/foot. A bit pricey as far as tubing goes, but not crazy like that page you linked to. I can't imagine what makes that tubing so expensive.

I intend to keep a clear T-Line, to keep track of circuit water levels. Water quality too, noone wants bugs hiding in their opaque tubing

This looks sweet but I'm not sure I'll give that up vs some nice glowing tube (and the benefits of seeing your water).
