What to do with a lappy taken apart?

I will also post this same thread in general discussion if there any replies from here.
The LCD screen is cracked, and there is no way to fix it, so we took it apart to salvage the HD, but I went further, and took the whole mobo apart. I then put it back together, and behold it still works!
But its a slow old system, Athlon K6-400mhz, 64mb ram, 4gb HD (i think), Neomagic video chipset 2mb (UGH!), and a partially working CD-ROM drive.
I cant think of a good use of this laptop mobo, and I wont put it back togethet into the case and rescrew it, it took me hours to take it apart! So I cant really sell the parts on ebay, unless i took the time to wrap everything up.

SOMEONE THINK OF SOMETHING!!!

Um... If it werent a laptop you could make a router out of it or somthing. Mmaybe just a learn linux/folding box?

I already have 2 routers, and I would have to put in 2 PCMIA network cards to do just that.
Learn linux? and folding on that lappy is way too slow, so it is not worth the effort leaving it on all day just to fold.

you could still sell it on ebay.. doesn't really matter if it is taken apart.. but it is up to you, if its to much hassle just trash it

Sounds similar to an old lappy I have beside me. My uncle gave it to me since the screen was cracked. The specs are similar to yours (PII 333Mhz, 64MB, 4GB HD, etc, it's an old Panasonic CF-47). I'd search ebay for either the same laptop being sold for parts (so you can get a new screen), or just look for the screen being sold by itself on ebay. I actually found a used screen on ebay for $15 plus shipping which is ALOT cheaper than buying a brand new screen for it which would have cost me $300+.

you could always put it all in a box and send it to me :-P

or use it for experaments like replacing / modding the PLL circuit for faster bus speeds and whatnot. could use the hard drive in an HTPC kinda project.. although it is rety small. could always play movies and whatnot over LAN.

TURN IT INTO A MEDIA CENTER!!!!
A friend gave me an old dell 1gmhz cpu. the lcd screen was done for so i took it apart and cleaned it, removed the lcd and hooked it up to my TV and sound system. I also reinstalled XP on it and my collection of mp3(20GB). Its nice because its quiet and it replaces my dvd player. its also hooked up to my router so it another internet access point
I'm also planning on adding an external 200HDD

turn it into a wifi repeater.... put it in a box in your yard and charge your neighbors acrossed the street for internet access... i cant remember how to make it a repeater but i know it can be done.
