Could This Be Possible?

We;; today I was fixin an old gateway and knowticed something on the RAM, they had 2 128 meg SDRAM sticks in them with RAM moduels on only one side like it was meant to be a 256 stick seems all circuts and things are there it just needs the other memory moduels somehow solderd on. I am ot saying I could solder them nor do I want to but just out of curiosity could it be done and work?

When the chips are on only one side of ram it's called singled sided. Doubt you could put more chips on the pcb and get them to work - all the traces etc will be built around the ram stick as it is, changing them would be more of an engineering feat than getting the lengths of the traces right in the first place

Probably, with the right tools. It would take precision instruments though.
