Serie connect 2 pumps..

Hi I just ordered a eheim 1048 because the 1250 was out of stock and it was pretty cheap so I figured I try it and if its to weak then I just buy an aquarium or something and put it in there Then I though that if I buy a 1250 maby I should skip the aquarium and serie conect the pumps so I'll get a backup if one of em quits. Would it be possible to connect 2 pumps with different flowrates? If so should I put the stronger pump first or second?

I don't think it'll be wise to connect 2 different pumps in series... I'm not sure... maybe someone else can explain.

By the way, you posted this in cooling instead of water cooling.
