I just bought one of these for a machine i'm building: http://www.chieftec.com/products/Workcolor/BA-01.htm it's the new chieftec 'mini' server case, and let me tell you, this thing is HUGE! it makes my other machines look puny.. i think it scares them. anyway, it causes wiring problems. PSU lines are too short but i'm more worried about IDE and floppy cable, can i get extra long ones? can i solder 2 IDE cables together? how bout SATA ones?

I wouldn't worry about IDE corruption too much. The optimum length is something like 45cm, but that's ridiculous because I've used 90cm IDE cables with no problems at all.

Anywhere, here's an example of where to get a nice long IDE cable:

I'm assuming you won't get data corruption from these, because presumably the R&D department of the company has tested them first (it's doubtful they'd sell a product prone to corruption.)

Having long IDE cables is by no means ideal, but it should be alright :)

ok, found some on dabs.com, an some flashy ones on kustompcs (uk shops) so it seems it should work. i think i read SATA has a longer range tho, so thats a good idea for those with the right setup.
If anyone's interested, the case currently has a fortron PSU (the only other brand new component i plan to buy for this) and a Tyan thunder LE-T dual P3 board. still researching the rest of the hardware so any suggestions welcome. it's supposed to be a stable storage box and linux workstation, but i'll probably tweak it out anyway :D
