I'm a little hesitant to try it again since two of my 6800's fried with a nv5 on...

Just be careful with the thermal paste. I was not overly impressed with my NV5. No matter how many times I reseated it, I could never get very good temps.

i got excellent temps 40 idle 50 load

i used ceramique, but i did get it around and under the ram a little....

could that have done it?

after i put it on i got massive artifacts after about an hour...

I fried my 6800NU with the NVSilencer 5 so I personally wont recoomend it. Then again I dont know if it wasent seated right or what.

Ceramique supposedly is not conductive or capacitive, so it is unlikely that it could short any connections on your board. Maybe you tightened it a little too much and damaged the core or a memory chip.
