my overture ('big' pics)

OK, here goes. I bought it because it was a desktop case and those don't come plenty nowadays. i also needed it be full atx size. so overture caught my eye from the local netstores webpage(380w antex psu and case for a very good price, and it was a desktop too!).

I read some reviews, some of which said it might overheat - but I was not worried as majority of heat would be fought with watercooling anyways.

so, here's just the motherboard, the msi nx6800 gfx card with nv5 silencer, the cpu and the old tv card I got.

next pic:

here's a bit more! as you can see it's getting VERY crowded in there. 2x 160gb, 2x 120gb, one old 6 gigger veteran(I got my reasons for keeping it there..) and the dvd+-rw drive fit just in though. the 5.25" cage was a bit of a b**** to get back in, it finally went there though. this is what i think is a revision 2 case as there's the extra exhaust hole and fan on the right side.

and the final pic:

the hoses come out of the back, through where you would fit the backplate on the ps2/parallel/usb connectors normally.

that's the 6800's stock heatsink on there. as you can see the overture looks so good that i probably gotta do something to the rest of the room too ! also I should switch the amplifier from under the overture to be o on top of the overture..

looks good

Did you use the PSU that came with it?

If so, how are your rails?

If not, what PSU did you use?

Kind of hard to see ...

the overture comes with it's own special 380w antec psu. it's out in front(bottom left in the pics, under the two sata drives)

from asusprobe:
+5v 4.95v
3.296-3.312
12.096v

I haven't gotten around checking with a multimeter yet.

the cpu's a 2800xp+, 1.5gb of ddr 333.

Just wondering why you have the stock heatsink on the top of the case? Is it hooked up and running?

As he stated "that's the 6800's stock heatsink on there. as you can see the overture looks so good that i probably gotta do something to the rest of the room too". Think he wanted to show off the paintjob on the case, or just got really lazy

ah, it's external. I don't think I could fit them in there well.. would fit nicely if i removed the hd's in the hd carriage and bought a small radiator.

yeah the old 6 gigger is a 'rescue' disk of sorts. bootable to dos. but it makes such a noise i gotta get rid of it! loudest part in the combination now.

thanks, but i'm not 'new' to the forums :\ i used to hang around 2 years ago. but have forgotten exact old nick and used probably an email address with it that is no longer valid.

EDIT: the stash wouldnt fit on that one buahahahahah

update:

I checked the volts with a multimeter. the voltage coming out of the psu is stable 5.05V.

there's the huge drop in voltages at the atx header. :\

I guess I have to take it apart and do some soldering(I think it's holding my overclock back), did it once before with another mobo...

I have this same case, I want to upgrade to a skt 754 3400 clawhammer, mainly because i have one laying around. Do you think this PSU would work? I have been trying to find a better one, but it is hard b/c it can only have one exaust fan 80/90mm.

I gotta ask, where'd you get the case, and what'd you pay?

BTW, it looks great, I've been trying to find one with enough room for my stuff, and that looks like it'll fit the bill.

I'm pretty confident the psu would take the a64.

I paid ~120euros for it, I'm in Finland though so that's the reason for the high price.. But antec 380w psu would have been 90euros - all and all the case is very good value.

If you're thinking of buying one and using aircooling for cpu, and the cpu is beefy, make sure that you're getting the version with the extra exhaust fan at the side(I bought mine thinking I'd get the version with only the 92mm one at the back, I watercool so it wouldn't have made much of a difference anyhow for me).

Thinking of doing some nice logo on the top
