Overclocking really isnt that hard it's kinda like trial and error. Having 1gb stick's my hurt you 1:1 overclock so you maight have to use a ratio on your ram\cpu.

Pretty simple all you really should have to do is set you fsb up a few mhz and test with prime95 to check stability.

Do you have cpu-z and prime?

If you can you take a screenie of you system info with cpu-z and them run prime for a few min's and see what your full load temp is?

I would start @ around 220fsb if everything look's ok.

That one nice rig for someone that has never OCed a system before...very nice...

If jonspd can not help you out...which I am sure he can without any issues...you can look me up on AOHELL for some realtime Q&A's...

thanx. this is only the second system i have built. my first got passed over to the wife for a while. and well I just gave her my old system a pent4 2g machine with 1gig memory. I wanted to beable to play games etc...the old machine only had a 4x agp slot. So yeah i went as little nuts.

back to the subject.

I did run prime 95 all night all tests passed. I also DO have cpuz but it dosn't tell you temps.

here is a report using everest home edition.

I dont understand the temps. I went to my bios and it said tonight when in the bios area idleing(what else can you do while in bios) it was at 29deg c.

other thing is I dont understand WHY my memory is reading at 250mhz when it is 500mhz memory.

I've almost got the same setup you have. see sig.

I'm prime stable at these settings...

CPU: 11x230 (A64's don't like half multi's)
1.45v
RAM: 6,4,4,2.5 1T
2.7v

CPU running at 2510 MHz
RAM running at 230 MHz

One thing I noticed on your system, you should probably update your Gigabyte BIOS to latest.

checked the bios I DID need to update it. and I also watched my temps also.

idle 29-30deg C and at 100% load for 20 minutes using prime 95 the temp only reached 40deg C.

how long should i run prime 95 for to see how high the temps would go? looks like i have PLENTY of room for Oc'ing.
