Having some fond memories of the past with an old school friend, I decided to dig out my copy of Lighthouse, an adventure game from Sierra. It was one of my favourites when I was a bit younger and I wanted to have another crack at it after pretty much forgetting how to solve all the puzzles.

The installation crashed when I tried to do it through windows (XP home) so I opted for a Dos/Command Prompt installation and everything went fine.

However when I start the game there is a horrible amount of crackling accompanying the sound, to the extent that the music and voice messages etc. are almost uninteligable.

Any ideas what could be causing this? Its really irritating and I would love to play this game again!
