yes, I believe the whole m series is centrino (300m?, 500m, 600m, 700m, and the others i left out if any)

There is alos the latitude D600, D700 series which are more for "office users" than home users although you can still get them.

I've owned the 600m and its really quiet. the fan is barely audible and sometimes i fell asleep, woke up, and didn't notice my laptop was still on until i actually saw it.

When I bought my 600m about 4 months ago, the reason I didn't go with the 700m is that it only had the option of onboard video. That was the only big difference except the 700m's widescreen.

i've bought both of these laptops. the 600m for someone in the office and the 700m for myself. personally, they're both good laptops, it just depends on what you want.

the 600m has a 15" screen that's like most other laptop screens, with a good balance of portability and a bit more configurable than the 700m.

the 700m is a beauty with a 12" wide screen display. when you look at it, it's extra glossy much like the sony vaio tr3a series and is extra bright.

it's also got onboard video so if this is a factor, get the 600m. Also, other important notes would be that the 700m is great for dvds and movies when you're on the go. if you're not gaming then i'd go for this choice since it can do anything you want to do aside from games.

**important note is that the 700m has a smaller keyboard than the standard keyboard size. you won't know this until you read reviews or have it for youself. it doesn't take long to get used to it but if you're a big guy this may be inconvenient for you.

i just think the 700M looks nicer overall. ^_^

if screen size really matters, i believe the new inspiron 6000 and 9200 are similar to the dell 700M but are more configurable and are larger as well.
