Problemo!

I started folding after I finished building the rig in my sig. I did about 1100 WUs for SETI but I am working on finding a cure now. I have a new computer at work that I have permission to fold on. It is running windows 2k. I installed the client and it processed a WU but still says that the returned WUs is NONE. It is working on a new WU now. I set it up in my network drive and my name as Nimblor and of course, team 32.

It may take a while to show up, when did you turn it in? Your stats show only one active processor so you haven't got credit for it yet: http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/m...ername=Nimblor

Post your FAHlog.txt file from C:\Program Files\FAH in this thread or attach it and we can take a look for you.

Heres my log file. I installed this on my network drive so it was in H:\something or other. I read through it. I have no clue what all that junk means. There was something about checksums not matching. I don't know what that means either but I don't like the sound of it.

The problem is that you have fah on the network drive, it doesnt know what to do... it needs to be on the LOCAL machine HD, NOT a network drive. Install FAH on the local machine and you will be good to go.

Poopers.. I can use the local drive if I am logged in as an administrator.. but then I can't access my network drives... Is there a way I can make it run from the login screen and just log out and let it go?

Yes! Use the one click found here: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=231247 it installs as a SERVICE and will run no matter who is logged in or even if the machine is logged out It will install FAH into C:\Program Files\FAH by default. BEFORE running the installer, open the CLIENT.CFG and edit the username to be yours, save it, then double click the installer. BEFORE doing any of this, I would completely remove the other FAH files/directories.

if you install it as a service (the one click in the sticky http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=231247) it will fold even if you log off.

I installed it as a service (one click) but how to I tell if it is working or not? Do I just have to wait until it finishes a work unit?

Check for the FAH console and FAH core in task manager, that will show they are working, other than that, you can check for progress in the logs.

If you want more robust monitoring, you should use EMIII which is freely downloadable.

The FAH shows up in the task bar when I am logged in as an administrator, but not as my usual login. I do not have access to the task manager under my usual login and there is no FAH in the task bar. I want it to run when nobody is logged in.

If you used the service installer, then it is running when nobody is logged in, and when you are logged in under the locked down account - system services can run without anyone being logged in. It will run as a service in the background, and there will be no visible indication that it is doing work. If the machine is really locked down you would not be able to do anything other than check the log file.

If you are able to install software you can install EMIII and that will show you exactly what is being worked on.

If it is running in the task bar, you most likely have 2 versions of FAH running, the one click will not show up anywhere but taskmanager in processes. Check the startup folder of the admin account to make sure there is no shortcut there or something.

Is it bad to have 2 versions running?

IF they both have the same machineID in the config file, it will be ugly yes. I would only run the one click...

I think I fixed it. There was some FAHcore_78 or something like that running in the task manager under the administrator login. The other one is gone now. Nothing is in the task bar.. I will watch my stats and see what happens.

If you have the one click installed correctly - you should see the fahconsole and fahcore_xx listed in task manager under the admin logon, but you should not see anything in the taskbar.

That is what I got. Perfect. Now I just need permission to "borg" some more machines around here.
