Samba and Windows...

OK, here we go...

I have the latest ver of samba installed and onfigured. I have defined the shares. I can even connect to them using the SMBCLIENT on the linux box.

The problem is that when I try to map a drive to them from windows I get the error
"User not allowed to connect from this machine"
or something like that. I can give the exact error if that is needed.

Any ideas as to what I have misconfigured...

Oh yea, it also does not show up in the domain either...
I have created a computer account for it, I have used the smb command to add it to the domain... I am lost and in need of help.

HELP.....

did you use the
smbpasswd -a username
command to add samba users?

after samba server is installed it either has to be started manually or set to run automatically at startup. in rh and mandrake the command is
samba start
samba stop
samba status

i mostly use SuSE an in it the commands are
rcsmb start
rcsmb stop
rcsmb status

did you specify the wprkgroup name in the smb.conf file
did you enable encrypted passwords in smb.conf

if this does not help attatch your smb.conf file to an email and send it to me and i will check it out

Also make sure you have Valid Users = <username> in the share config.
