Memtest Question

I am posting this in CPU's for a reason. When overclocking you want to tes the memory for errors. You use Memtest to do this. If your CPU is at a very high clock and you are getting Prime Errors, then you run memtest, would you see errors in memtest from the CPU. The way I understand It is that the CPU would need to be used to test the Memory so if the CPU is making errors Memtest would pick up on CPU errors as well as Memory errors. Someone correct me If my thinking is totally offbase here.

You're probably right, but I don't know to what extent this program stresses the CPU.
The CPU is involved in practically everything, and I seriously doubt that Memtest can sort out the source of an error. Such a program obviously picks up on any error - otherwise it would be rather pointless.

Yup, this is possible. Memtest seems to stress the memory more heavily than the cpu. If you have an AMD rig and want to aviod this, just lower the multiplier.

If memtest comes up with an error, it is most likely memory, but it could also be cache, or maybe cpu (least likely).
