Which is faster?

2X512 DDR333 in dual channel mode? Or 2X512 DDR400 in single channel mode? I ask this because I can't seem to get my DDR400 to run in dual channel on the MSI neo2 plat no matter which configuration I tried.

What memory are you running and in what slots...

if it is true socket 939 duel channel I would bet that 333 duel channel is a good deal faster than 400mhz single channel.

dual channel will be faster. That board should run pc400 in dual channel as well

In theory the dual channel should be faster, but I don't think it will be. Please test it and let us know. (I know for sure it wouldn't be on an nf2 board, but on an nf3 it should be closer) Anyone wany to make any side bets? LOL

I'm really curious. If Mysti doesn't run this test I'm going to run it myself for the hell of it.

I don't know how to benchmark memory speed, sorry. I'm a newb. But all I know is that my old dell will run both of these memories, which are generic fine in dual mode. But my new 939 3000 won't run the DDR400 in dual mode. There's just a beebing sound every 5 second.

download sisoft sandra from here or anywhere else you want.

Install it and run the memory bandwidth benchmark with all the different setups you can run. Higher numbers win!!

You can also download things like Aquamark or several versions of 3D mark and test which memory setup performes better in these, but most likely it will be the one with higher bandwidth.

Faster for what? You will probably get more bandwidth out to dual channel DDR333, but lower latency (in terms of cpu cycles) from the single channel DDR400.
