Need a little help.....I just purchased the cheap Powercolor 9800SE with the I memory (R98E-SC3). I'm interested in possibly flashing the bios with a Powercolor bios specifically made for Samsung memory, either 2.8ns or 3.3ns. The flash would simply make it a regular (vanilla) 9800NP, assuming the I can enable the extra pipes.

Question: How do I know which Samsung bios to flash with? I tried looking up the DRAM part# here: http://www.hynix.com/datasheet/eng/dram/details/dram_04_HY5DU281622ET.jsp

How do I know whether to use the 2.8ns or 3.3ns Samsung bios? Thanks for any info....

Before you flash the bios why dont you try overclocking the card and see what speed it will run stable at.

I'm assuming the bios flash just changes the clock speeds of the memory and possibly the core, but I dont really know for sure. Flashing the card may not work and I wouldn't do it unless you see that others have done it sucessfully or if you can afford to replace the card.

edit... just noticed this thread which will probably help you out a lot http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=270479

Thanks for the response....I enabled the extra 4 pipes with the omega drivers, and got some artifacting in 3dMark01 (no overclocking), so it looks like a bad candidate for flashing to a 9800NP. Oh well, there's always ebay....
