Hello

I am setting up a new A64 3500+ system for a friend

A64 3200+ s939
ADA3200DIK4BI
CBBID 0505CPBW (Week 5 2005)
120907B50378

Does anyone know if this batch chip is any good?

CBBID's seem to be a hit or a miss. I got three duds. Those were earlier weeks though. A friend of mine has an 0501 CBBID that does 2.6ghz perfectly stable. Mine, however, wouldn't do 2.4ghz.

it seems that every winchester since 0450 or so has been a cbbid. what's the percentage, 90%?

makes me wary of buying one. guess i'll just wait for the e0 chips :-/

Excuse the noobishness but I'm not familiar with how they make chips. What are these "batches" and "steppings"? What do week numbers mean? What are CBBID's and e0's? Does this mean that if I buy a 3200 I get random performance depending on the code thats on my processor? Does this also apply to 3000+'s and 3500+'s?

Teach me this plz cuz I get real confused when reading stuff like this but I don't feel like making a topic out of it. Thx in advance :)
