Can Sata 3GB ports accept Sata 1.5GB?

Can Sata 3GB ports accept Sata 1.5GB? Are the ports backwards compatible like USB? Can a Sata 1.5GB hard drive be hooked up to Sata 3GB ports but just run at 1.5GB.

it should be all the cable sizes are the same. just like an ata133 can be put in ata 100 spot.

shouldnt be a problem at all

Yes. The SATA II spec is backwards compatible with SATA I.

it isnt 3GB it is 300mb isnt it ? and 150mb not 1.5GB.

I was wondering b/c the connectors on the board look different. I was thinking of getting the Asus A8N board and the Sata 3GB connectors look different.
