Cleaning out rad DOES HELP!! lol

ive been tuned out of PCs since i built my last one. i just wake up, play games and go back to sleep lol. i decided to run mbm to see what my temps were and i saw 35c~36c.... i remember it not being so high. i also noticed dust all over my rads... i decided to clean my room as well. i was going to buy an aircan thingy to blow it out and decided to save 3$ and blow it out myself. shorty after taking a deap breath and blowing into it, i openeed my eyes and noticed the biggest cloud of dust ive seen before... it made me have to leave to room cuz i was litterally choking on it ......

here i am 2 days later running mbm again and seeing that my temp is 26c <.<
so everyone get to blowing!!

I believe this has been talked about many other times, but one way or the other good drop in temps just bc of that.

Vacuum cleaner is the way to go, preferably one with a HEPA filter. If all you do is create a dust storm in the same room as the computer by blowing, all that dust will soon be right back where it was. You need to REMOVE the dust from the environment, not just redistribute it.

Worst situation of dust I've ever seen was on a coworkers computer. He was saying it had been locking up allot lately, and asked me to take a look. Cracking it open, there was what looked to be an entire cat inside the case. I could have knitted a sweater from the cat hair I pulled off his heat sink.

Found a tunafish sandwich in my roommates computer while trying to figure out what was making all the noise when he got it back from the store.

Fairy new. His vid card died. They made him take the monitor and the tower back (he made me lug the 19" crt two miles across campus to the store too). he got it back and put it on his desk and something made a "flop" sound. It also smelled (I dont like tuna). Was in there for like a day probably. Fried all his PCI cards (soundblaster something, tv tuner, ata card) and vid card. Guess tuna is conductive.

nope, company went under before he had a chance. Company was called "Intratech." Was a hole-in-the-wall place in Blacksburg VA that ripped off college students. One day we walked over to it and the building/office was empty.

So hard to find a good computer shop these days. I live in Southern Utah and I cant even find a Soundblaster Audigy because its a "high end" specialty item so it has to be prepaid and they can order it in. Thank goodness for Newegg and Fedex.

Not to hijack the thread, but I live in SLC area, Utah. I don't even bother with the local computer stores, its straight to newegg, and online retailers. So don't feel too bad that you don't have anything in Southern Utah considering there isn't even much in SLC valley(at least that I have found so far).

I did some work for my accountant. All of her computers were an unbelivably dusty mess, but one of them takes the cake. Fortunately it was an older computer that they only used to run a check printer. Her favorite little dog used to like to sit by that computer. It had not been so much as blown out in almost 5 years! I could not believe it was even running. I had to take it out into the parking lot and first pull clumps of dog hair out of the thing, followed by mild shaking, blowing on it, and 2 cans of compressed air.

of course they went out of business - they didn't even know that you are only supposed to install dielectric fish sandwiches in computers. pffffffft.
